Part 1: Controls
W A S D: Basic movement controls. W moves you forward, A moves left, S moves backward, and D moves right. You can also use the arrow keys as an alternative.
Numbers (1-5): Select the weapon you're carrying. You have at least 11 weapons to choose from if Give weapons on spawn was checked when attempting to load a map. You can also scroll the mouse wheel to switch weapons.
Spacebar: Jump. Use this to avoid obstacles or to gain height. Jumping also accelerates your movement when sprinting forward or backward.
Shift: Sprint. Hold Shift while moving to run faster in the direction you're moving.
Left Click: Primary weapon attack.
Right Click: Secondary weapon attack (if applicable).
V: Noclip, you can phase through objects and fly around
Q: Opens the spawn menu
Part 2: Options To access the options, pause the game or go to the main menu. In the Options dialog, you can customize various aspects of your game: Key Bindings: Reassign controls to keys you feel more comfortable with.
Audio: Adjust volume levels for sound effects, music, and voice chat.
Video: Modify video options to optimize performance or enhance visuals.
Gameplay: Fine-tune aspects like mouse sensitivity or HUD options.
Part 3: Game Mounts
Click on the Games button at the bottom of the main menu to open a list of games that can be mounted to Garry's Mod.
Part 4: Personalization
Personalizing Garry's Mod helps make your gameplay more enjoyable and less repetitive. Here's how you can customize the game based on your platform:
Steam: Head to the Garry's Mod Workshop and subscribe to mods you want to install. You can manage your installed mods via the Addons menu in the main menu. . Other Platforms: If you installed Garry's Mod through other methods, you’ll need to manually add mods by placing them in the addons folder located in your Garry's Mod files. You can find mods from websites like GameBanana.
Part 5: Gamemodes The default gamemode in Garry's Mod is Sandbox. You can easily switch between gamemodes from the main menu. Other available gamemodes can be installed via mods (see Part 3: Personalization). To change gamemodes, click the icon in the left corner of the menu. Browse and select the gamemode you want to play.
Part 6: Multiplayer To play online, select Multiplayer from the main menu. From here, you can: Browse Servers: Use filters to find servers based on game modes, player count, or region. Connect to a Server: Choose a server to join. If the server has many addons, it may take a little longer to load.
